• Neuro-leadership helps supervisors understand how the brain responds to communication, stress, and relational cues. When leaders recognize how behaviors influence the nervous system, they can create environments that reduce reactivity and strengthen engagement.

This session introduces Dr. David Rock’s SCARF model (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, Fairness) to show how everyday supervisory interactions shape team motivation, cohesion, and psychological safety. Grounded in Neuro-leadership and Polyvagal Theory, we explore how subtle shifts in communication, predictability, and relational presence can move teams from “away” (threat) responses toward “toward” (reward) states to enhance motivation and engagement.

Supervisors leave with practical strategies for leading in ways that support clarity, connection, and stability across their workforce.

  • With five generations in the workplace, supervisors must bridge unique generational motivators and norms. Expectations, communication norms, generational values, and stress loads can make teamwork very challenging. This session equips supervisors with the tools to lead in a landscape defined by rapid change, high emotional demand, and shifting professional identities. We will explore strategies to enhance engagement, how to lead through uncertainty, and how to build trust and stability in environments where burnout and turnover are real risks.

  • Recruitment and retention are no longer transactional tasks, they are core leadership practices that shape organizational stability. This session examines the full employee experience through a neuro-leadership lens, exploring what attracts mission-aligned staff and what sustains their commitment in a demanding field.

Leadership in Action

Practical Strategies for Today’s Child Welfare Leaders

This interactive three-session, two-hour leadership series is designed specifically for supervisors working in high-acuity environments who need practical, steadying tools they can use immediately. Grounded in Neuro-leadership (brain-based leadership) and Polyvagal Theory, the series gives supervisors a clear understanding of how their own nervous system influences team performance, communication, and culture as well as strategies to manage staff. Through experiential learning and real-world application, participants build the capacity to regulate themselves and co-regulate their teams, and learn specific strategies to promote safety, connection, clarity, and consistently higher performance across their workforce.
