2020 Pacific Northwest Caregivers Conference
Great Wolf Lodge, Grand Mound, WA
Angela Tucker from Amara will train on Transracial Caregiving!
Adopting, fostering and/or caregiving transracially requires caregivers to have sustained and healthy discussions about race and culture. The workshop includes facilitated discussions about privilege, implicit bias, microaggressions, and an adult adoptee panel. Many families struggle with the questions: how do white adoptive parents help their children of color thrive? What are the unique needs of transracial adoptees that are different from people of color and white people being raised by same race parents? There tends to be a dispiriting response to stories of transracial adoption—particularly when adoptees dare share feelings of ambivalence or pain—that adoptees should be grateful, considering their alternative.
Our Pacific Northwest Caregivers Conference at Great Wolf Lodge is one of the best families conference settings you will find. It is the first weekend in May 1,2,3. We may fill up early. Please take this opportunity to “Save Your Spot”. This $25 is a small fundraiser to help with covering all the rooms we need for our daycare providers. https://fpaws.ejoinme.org/2020PNWCC
